What Is A Reverse Advent Calendar? | #FOODBANKADVENT
A report released by the trussell trust reveals figures that one in fifty homes in the UK have used a food bank in 2018/19.
"In the last five years, food banks in the trussell trust network have seen a 73% increase in the number of food parcels provided to people in crisis"
For many families, this time of the year comes with lots of added financial pressures and a reverse advent calendar is a great way to show support within your local community.
What Is A Reverse Advent Calendar?
A traditional advent calendar starts on the 1st of December and runs until Christmas eve, and you receive chocolate or a treat on each day. The reverse advent calendar starts anytime in November, and for 24 days you add a food item to donate.
The sooner you start the better as food banks need time to sort through donations and prepare food parcels for collection in December.
What Should I Include In My Reverse Advent Calendar?
The best way to find out which items your local food bank needs is to contact them directly.
